Carondelet plans to sell the KC Prime Healthcare hospitals

   Carondelet Health has signed a letter of intent to sell St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City and St. Mary Medical Center in Blue Springs, Prime Health Services Inc.

Companies do not plan to disclose financial details of the agreement until the transaction is completed. The sale will include most children's hospitals and affiliated facilities, a statement said. However, three centers of long-term care hospitals and the two charities' will remain a part of the Ascension.

HCA Midwest Health System agreed to buy two hospitals in May 2013, however, the deal died in January after it became clear that the Federal Trade Commission will not approve the sale.
